The dam behind Homme Reservoir
Homme Reservoir is held back by Homme Dam (also recorded as Homme Lake; Park River Dam) , a concrete structure , standing 72 ft high and running 865 ft along its crest , built across SOUTH BRANCH OF PARK RIVER in Walsh County , near PARK RIVER . It was completed in 1950 and modified in 2000H , and is owned by USACE - St. Paul District (a federal owner) , to a design credited to CEMVP.
Its recorded primary purpose is water supply — delivering water to its customers comes first, so drawdown here follows demand as much as it follows rainfall . It also serves water supply;other;fish and wildlife pond;recreation;flood risk reduction.
It is founded on soil, with a earth core. Its spillway is ungated: once the pool reaches the crest, water leaves on its own and the operator cannot hold it back. The spillway opening is 218 ft wide. Its outlet works use slide (sluice gate)4;uncontrolled0;valve1.
