The dam behind Bull Run Reservoir No 2

Bull Run Reservoir No 2 is held back by Development No. 2 Dam (also recorded as Bull Run Reservoir No. 2 (Res)) , a rockfill embankment — quarried rock placed in compacted layers around a sealing core , standing 145 ft high and running 900 ft along its crest , built across Bull Run River in Clackamas County , near Troutdale, OR . It was completed in 1962 , and is owned by City of Portland Oregon (a local government owner) , to a design credited to Stevens & Thompson of Portland, OR.

Its recorded primary purpose is water supply — delivering water to its customers comes first, so drawdown here follows demand as much as it follows rainfall . It also serves water supply;hydroelectric.

It is founded on rock, with a earth core. Its spillway is ungated: once the pool reaches the crest, water leaves on its own and the operator cannot hold it back. The spillway opening is 0 ft wide.
