The dam behind Tyger Lake
Tyger Lake is held back by SJWD Water District RCC Dam , standing 44 ft high , built across NORTH TYGER RIVER in Spartanburg County . It was completed in 1997 , and is owned by STARTEX JACKSON WELLFORD DUNCAN WATER DISTRICT (a local government owner) .
Its recorded primary purpose is water supply — delivering water to its customers comes first, so drawdown here follows demand as much as it follows rainfall .
