The dam behind Pineview Dam & Reservoir
Pineview Dam & Reservoir is held back by Pineview Dam (also recorded as Pineview Reservoir) , a rockfill embankment — quarried rock placed in compacted layers around a sealing core , standing 137 ft high and running 600 ft along its crest , built across OGDEN RIVER in Weber County , near OGDEN . It was completed in 1937 and modified in 1993E;1993S;2004E;2004S , and is owned by BUREAU OF RECLAMATION (a federal owner) , to a design credited to BUREAU OF RECLAMATION.
Its recorded primary purpose is irrigation — the pool is drawn down across the growing season to serve water rights downstream, then refilled over winter .
Its spillway is gated, so the operator can hold the pool above the spillway crest and meter what leaves. The spillway opening is 30 ft wide.
