Eagle Mountain Reservoir is held back by Eagle Mountain Dam , an earthfill embankment, holding the pool back by sheer mass and an impervious core rather than by the strength of concrete , standing 85 ft high and running 7,900 ft along its crest , built across WEST FORK TRINITY RIVER in Tarrant County , near FORT WORTH . It was completed in 1932 and modified in 1962O;1971H;2014F , and is owned by TARRANT REGIONAL WATER DISTRICT (a state owner) , to a design credited to FREESE AND NICHOLS, INC.;FREESEAND NICHOLS, INC;HAWLEY AND FREESE AND NICHOLS;WSP USA, INC..
Its recorded primary purpose is irrigation — the pool is drawn down across the growing season to serve water rights downstream, then refilled over winter . It also serves irrigation;water supply.
