Wfk Dry Comal Creek is held back by Comal River WS SCS Site 2 Dam , a rockfill embankment — quarried rock placed in compacted layers around a sealing core , standing 75 ft high and running 3,100 ft along its crest , built across DRY COMAL CREEK in Comal County , near NEW BRAUNFELS . It was completed in 1981 , and is owned by CITY OF NEW BRAUNFELS;COMAL COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT;COMAL-GUADALUPE SWCD;EDWARDS AQUIFER AUTHORITY (a local government owner) , to a design credited to USDA NRCS.

Its recorded primary purpose is flood risk reduction — the pool is drawn down between storms so there is empty space waiting for the next flood, which is why this level can fall in dry weather and climb sharply after rain . It also serves flood risk reduction;other.

It is founded on unlisted/unknown, with a unlisted/unknown;unlisted/unknown core. Its spillway is ungated: once the pool reaches the crest, water leaves on its own and the operator cannot hold it back. The spillway opening is 445 ft wide. Its outlet works use slide (sluice gate)1;uncontrolled2.
